Overview

The YDLIDAR X3 Pro is a 360 Lidar Sensor designed for ROS robotics mapping and navigation. It uses trigonometric (laser triangulation) ranging technology and standard asynchronous serial communication (UART), providing an 8m measurement radius for most indoor use scenarios. The module includes a motor driver with motor speed regulation and supports automatic adjustment of scanning frequency.

Key Features

  • Support ROS1 and ROS2; compatible with ROS systems and provides SDK and technical support.
  • Sampling frequency: 4000 times/s (4000 samples per second).
  • Scanning frequency: 5Hz~10Hz adjustable (can adjust by itself via motor speed regulation).
  • 360 omni-directional laser scanning (ranging core rotates clockwise).
  • Ambient light resistance: 40Klux (indoor/outdoor).
  • Provides Windows PC software.
  • Supports development platforms including Raspberry Pi, RDK series, NVIDIA Jetson series boards, and PC/IPC.
  • Provides a general mapping and navigation app for ROS robot (Android phones only), with functions such as mapping, navigation, and viewing images through the app.

Details

The YDLIDAR X3 Pro Lidar Sensor delivers 360 scanning for ROS mapping and navigation, with adjustable 510Hz rotation.

Compared with the YDLIDAR X3, the Pro version increases sampling to 4000 times/s and improves ambient light resistance to 40Klux.

A spec-focused comparison highlights X3 Pro parameters like angle resolution, measurement radius, and ROS/UART compatibility.

Blind-spot testing emphasizes cleaner point cloud recognition at close range for reliable indoor SLAM work.

Range detection results illustrate extended long-distance returns in controlled tests.

At 6m, lower point-cloud jitter helps keep maps stable during navigation and obstacle avoidance.

Laser triangulation ranging is used to measure distance and build a 2D contour map of the environment.

An 8m measurement radius fits most indoor mapping and navigation deployments.

Scanning frequency can be adjusted from 5Hz to 10Hz with built-in motor speed regulation.

A 4000 samples-per-second rate supports responsive mapping data capture.

Full 360 omni-directional scanning helps detect surroundings for navigation and contour mapping.

ROS1 and ROS2 compatibility is supported with SDK access and technical assistance for integration.

Works with common robotics platforms including Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson, RDK series boards, and PC/IPC.

Typical ROS workflows include rviz visualization, mapping/navigation stacks, and dynamic obstacle avoidance.

An Android-only app is available for general mapping, navigation, and viewing images on a ROS robot.

Windows PC software is provided for debugging, visualization, and basic lidar testing.

Suitable for educational robots, open-source robotics projects, UAV ranging, and environment scanning tasks.

USB connection enables quick plug-and-play setup, and the compact body fits space-limited robot builds.

YDLIDAR X3 Pro uses an external point pulsed laser that meets the FDA Class 1 laser safety standard.

The EAI X3 Pro course catalog outlines learning modules for mapping, SLAM, navigation, and ROS2 development.

The YDLIDAR X3 Pro kit includes the lidar sensor, a serial port adapter board, and TypeC and additional cables for connecting to your system.

YDLIDAR X3 Pro specifications and mechanical drawings help plan mounting space and integration into your robotics setup.
