Yahboom TinyF ToF Laser Ranging Module 2-400cm UART 5V Distance Sensor for Robot Car & Drone Altitude

Overview

The Yahboom TinyF is a high-precision laser ranging module (single-point ToF distance sensor) designed for fast distance measurement in compact robotics and UAV projects. It uses a Time of Flight (ToF) ranging principle and supports a 2400 cm measurement range (204000 mm), with measurement accuracy within 3% and ambient light immunity up to 190 kLux.

Key Features

• ToF distance measurement principle; millimeter-level measurement accuracy (test data table provided below).
• Detection distance: 20 mm to 4000 mm (2400 cm / 4 m max).
• Frame rate: 30 Hz to 90 Hz (default 30 Hz; 30 data sets per second).
• Ambient light immunity: 0 to 190 kLux (supports distance measurement outdoors under strong light).
• UART serial communication; compatible with mainstream development boards (Raspberry Pi, JETSON, RDK series, MSPM0, STM32, ESP32, AR, micro:bit).
• Compact housing with screw-mounting holes for integration on robot cars, robots, and drones.
• Development materials are provided for Raspberry Pi, JETSON, RDK series, MSPM0, STM32, ESP32, AR, and micro:bit.
• 3D model files will be provided.

Details

TinyF is a compact single-point ToF laser ranging module for fast distance sensing in robots and UAV projects.

Mechanical drawings help with CAD layout, enclosure design, and bracket placement before installation.

UART wiring is straightforward: power (5V/GND) plus RX/TX for serial data output.

Development resources and example connections support common MCU boards and SBC platforms.

Screw-mount tabs make the sensor easier to secure on robot cars and frames without custom brackets.

A 2400 cm working range fits obstacle avoidance, navigation, and altitude/spacing detection tasks.

Choose a frame rate from 3090 Hz to balance response speed and system load.

Test data summarizes precision and accuracy across reflectivity and lighting conditions.

Strong ambient light resistance helps maintain stable ranging outdoors and near bright surfaces.

For quick setup on a PC, a USB-to-TTL adapter can be used to view serial output during testing.

Typical uses include drone altitude control, robot obstacle avoidance, and smart device proximity sensing.

Designed to meet Class 1 laser safety requirements for everyday environments.

Tutorials, code examples, and documentation are provided to speed up integration across platforms.

TinyF support files include MSPM0G3507 routines for CCS and Keil along with a datasheet and basic wiring instructions.
